AQUAVOX

Aquavox cleans your phone speakers with sound. Doing that does not require knowing who you are, so we do not ask.

The short version

There are no accounts, there are no servers of ours, and we collect nothing about you. What the app saves stays on your phone.

The only thing that leaves your device is handled by the store you downloaded the app from (Apple or Google), to charge for the subscription. We do not see it.

The microphone

The decibel meter needs the microphone to measure the noise around you. We only ask for it when you open that feature, and it only listens while a measurement is running.

The sound is analysed inside your phone. It is not stored, not sent anywhere and not written to any file. When you stop measuring, nothing is left.

You can refuse the permission, or withdraw it later in your phone settings. The rest of the app keeps working: cleaning, the tone generator and the speaker test do not use the microphone.

The camera

The device check opens the cameras so you can see what each lens sees and look for spots, moisture or focus problems. We only ask for it when you open that check.

The image is shown on screen and nothing else. No photo is taken, no file is stored and nothing is sent anywhere. Leaving the screen turns the camera off.

You can deny the permission, or withdraw it later in your phone settings. The rest of the app keeps working without it.

Face ID (iPhone only)

The device check may ask you for Face ID once, only to confirm that the phone's face recognition responds.

The app never sees your face and receives no biometric data. iOS does the check on its own and the only thing it tells us is whether it responded. Your face data never leaves the chip the phone keeps it in, and we have no way to reach it.

You can skip that check: the rest of the inspection works the same.

What is stored on your phone

The language you chose, whether you have seen the welcome screens, how many times you used the daily-limited features today, and whether your subscription is active.

Also the cleaning length you chose, whether it should vibrate when done, which app updates you have already seen, and your answers to the last phone inspection, so you can go back to the report. Those answers are deleted when you start a new inspection.

The app also writes temporary sound files to play the tones. They are deleted when the app closes, and the system clears them anyway.

None of this leaves your device. Uninstall the app and it goes with it.

The subscription

Payment is handled by the store you downloaded the app from: Apple's App Store or Google Play. They handle your payment method; we never see it.

The app only stores, on your phone, whether the subscription is active, so it knows whether to apply the daily limits.

Cancelling is done from your Apple or Google account, not from here.

Third parties

The only one is the store you downloaded the app from (Apple's App Store or Google Play), to charge for the subscription.

We use no analytics, no social networks and no tracking services. The typefaces ship inside the app rather than being downloaded, so your IP address never reaches a font server either.

Children

Aquavox is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since we ask for no personal data, there is nothing to delete if a child uses it.

Your rights

Because we keep no information about you outside your own phone, there is no account to close and no file to request from us.

To erase everything the app saved, uninstall it. That removes the local data completely.

Changes

If this changes, the date on this page and the text inside the app are updated. We do not email you, because we do not have your email.
