These are the rules for using Aquavox. They are short because the app is simple and we ask nothing of you.
What the app does
Aquavox plays low-frequency sound through your phone speaker. That movement can push out water trapped in the grille.
It also includes a tone generator, an approximate decibel meter and a test for hearing each speaker on its own.
What we do not promise
The app does not repair speakers. If water already damaged the component, no sound will fix it, and Aquavox cannot tell whether that happened.
We do not guarantee the water comes out. It depends on how much there is, where it settled and how your phone is built.
The decibel meter is approximate. A phone microphone is not calibrated and its sensitivity varies between models, between the top and bottom microphone, and with the case. Do not use it to decide whether a place is safe for your hearing, or for anything that depends on an exact reading.
Volume and hearing
To work, the app asks you to turn the volume up and plays loud tones. Do not hold the phone to your ear while it is sounding.
The tone generator reaches 20,000 Hz. Very high frequencies are barely audible and are still energy; listening to them loud and for a long time can damage your hearing without you noticing.
Raise the volume carefully, especially with headphones.
The subscription
The subscription removes the daily limits. It renews on its own until you cancel.
Billing and cancellation are handled by your Apple or Google account, not by the app. To cancel, go to the subscriptions section of your store.
If you started a free trial and do not cancel before it ends, billing begins automatically.
The limited version
You can use Aquavox without paying. Speaker cleaning is always unlimited; the tone generator, the meter and the speaker test get three uses a day.
Liability
You use Aquavox at your own risk. We are not liable for damage to your phone, your speakers or your hearing arising from using the app.
If your phone got wet, the sensible thing is to turn it off and take it to a repair shop. An app is not a substitute for that.
